Ever considered enrolling for a PADI Rescue Diver Course? The cool thing with this one is that you are already an Advanced Open Water Diver, so you know your scuba stuff. The Rescue course is about making you aware of what’s happening to others and how to react in a safe manner. 

It is the course that’ll give you the tools to make all the divers around you more comfortable as you help them with minor issues. And maybe one day, but hopefully never, it is the course that will prepare you to help a fellow diver who’s in a real emergency situation.

It sounds scary, but honestly, Rescue is quite fun. In fact, most PADI Scuba Divers will happily confirm this is the most fun course they’ve done in their bubble-blowing career. Instead of drilling skill-circuits, your instructor will organise real life scenarios and train you to react in a normal way. It’s not about the picture perfect water-exit, it’s about conditioning you to react appropriately in an emergency situation.

By the end of the course, you will look at diving from a new perspective. For lack of a better definition, you’ll feel like a “diver in the know”, the one any Divemaster or dive professional knows he can trust to assist if need be. That is not only a very gratifying feeling, but it also makes you a much safer and controlled diver, meaning you’ll enjoy everything you do just that little bit more!

Congratulations on your Open Water Diver qualification! Isn’t it just awesome how diving literally opens up a whole new dimension to any place you’ll visit in the world? But hang on, we’re sure your instructor told you about an Advanced Open Water Course. If you’re wondering what that is, read on.

The PADI Advanced Open Water course puts the emphasis on introducing you to specific aspects of diving rather than teaching you more skills, that is what your Open Water Course was for. You are a qualified Diver now, so let’s give you qualified diver things to do!

Your Advanced Open Water Course consists of 5 dives. In two of them, you are given the tools to dive to a depth of 30 meters – as opposed to the Open Water Course’s 18 meters – and you are taught how to navigate underwater. The rest of the course is up to you, really. You get to choose between a vast array of adventure dives focussed on something like photography, wrecks, night diving, and many, many more.

Put simply, the advanced course is more about letting you develop your Scuba diver identity and really get the most out of your diving. And you know what the best part is? We’ve already mentioned you are a qualified diver, which means there is no exam at the end of the course.

Becoming a PADI Advanced Open Water pretty much opens up every dive site in the world that sits within the limits of recreational diving. If you are a keen holiday diver, it is the ideal level for you to attain.

The PADI Discover Scuba Diving course consists of a little bit of theory – enough to ensure your safety, but not enough to leave you reeling – followed by a session in a pool or confined environment. If you’re comfortable in the pool, you have the option of going on a supervised ocean dive afterwards.
